Historic event should be noted with marker

We cannot escape history. It’s a fact that President Donald Trump narrowly escaped death in the Farm Show fields. It’s not politics. It is a tragedy that a life was lost, and two others were changed. It’s also a fact that once again America lost more of its innocence, what little we have left. It was a stressful and upsetting event for most people, regardless of political preferences.

Forward Township has a marker on Route 68, commemorating a close call George Washington had on Dec. 26, 1753. The young man, who was to achieve mythical status as an old man, narrowly escaped an assassin’s bullets. It is fitting and proper that the historical events both be acknowledged. The markers would be separated by maybe 5 miles of road.

Once again, it is history. It also encourages tourism into our area, as people are always searching for interesting things to do when traveling. Build it.
