Christopher Murray, who is originally from Butler, will be deployed with the U.S. Army once again this year, but not before being sent off by his family and friends Saturday, Jan. 18, at a deployment party.

Murray walked into the American Legion Post 117 in Butler on Saturday to get a “surprise” from a few dozen family and friends, organized by his wife, Megan Murray. Megan Murray led him into the legion hall, where friends and family were waiting to surprise Christopher, including his daughters, 8-year-old Evalina and 5-year-old, Willivene.

According to Megan Murray, her husband will head to Fort Indiantown Gap within the next month, and then he will ship out to Kuwait. He will be gone for a little more than a year, she said.
