Ott S. Bechtel, 83, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice-Wexford.

Born on Oct. 31, 1941, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late James D. Bechtel and Bernice (Summers) Bechtel.

Ott attended New Life Christian Ministries and GraceWay Community Church. He was also active in the Eagles and a member of the National Rifle Association. He worked at Pullman Standard and went on to own and operate Ott’s Auto Sales and Butler Rent A Car. Ott had a great love for spending time at his camp.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Henry) Bechtel of Butler; his son, Jeffrey (Kathy Jo) Bechtel, of Butler; four daughters, Wendy Bechtel of Butler, Nicole Bechtel of Butler, Tracey (Justin) Lapaglia of Seven Fields and Michelle (Dana) Mastropietro of Scott Township. Ott is also survived by his grandchildren, Chase and Gage Lapaglia, Gianna and Jalena Mastropietro and Beau Bechtel; two great-grandchildren, Malia and Phoenix; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ott was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther M. Kennedy and Doris Jean Bechtel; and a brother, James Bechtel.

BECHTEL — Friends of Ott S. Bechtel, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home with Pastor Dave West officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
