Mary Joan Johnson
Mary Joan (Rea) Johnson, 96, originally of Connoquenessing, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025.
Joan was born on Oct. 30, 1928, to the late Frank and Mary Rea.
She was married to the love of her life, Roy E. Johnson Jr., for 67 years. Summers were spent at “the river” at their camp in East Brady, and winters in Boynton Beach, Fla. Joan enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, going out to dinner and spending time with her family. Joan happily spent time embroidering, quilting, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and visiting her friends at the American Legion on Friday nights.
Before permanently moving to Boynton Beach in the early 2000s, she was a dedicated member of the Connoquenessing Methodist Church and Women’s Club.
Joan is survived by one daughter, Susan (Harry) Smith of Hampstead, Md.; two sons, Jeffrey (Candace) Johnson of Connoquenessing and Steven Johnson of Delray Beach, Fla. She is survived by three grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Smith of Baltimore, Md., Brandi (Eric) Maser of Butler and Kelly (Christopher) Dietrich of Butler. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren whom she adored, Lily Maser, Greyson Dietrich, Keaton Dietrich and Gavin Dietrich.
Joan was preceded in death by her spouse; parents; brother, Donald Rea; and infant brother, Frankie Rea.
JOHNSON — Funeral services for Mary Joan (Rea) Johnson, who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, will be private at a later date.
