Where to stay warm: Warming centers available amid cold weather advisory

As the temperatures Wednesday, Jan. 22, featured a negative sign in front of the numeral, warming centers are available to those who need to stay warm.

The Grapevine Center, 140 N. Elm St., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

The Glade Run Lutheran Services’ Grace Community Wellness Center, 123 E. Diamond St., is available from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. every night for those who attain vouchers for entry from Catholic Charities or the Center for Community Resources.

The Salvation Army, 313 W. Cunningham St., also offered a warming center Wednesday and intends to offer another Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Slippery Rock, where power outages were affecting many Wednesday, the fire department opened its bingo hall as a warming center, and the Slippery Rock Township building was also open for anyone in need.
