With cold temperatures seen across the region, the American Red Cross said it has seen a spike in donation cancellations, with about 12,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations in January.

To encourage people to get out and donate, the Red Cross is running a promotion through Jan. 26 and those that donate up until then will be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Feb. 9.

Donors are asked to book a time to give blood or platelets by using the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767.
