Driver in garbage truck crash ‘bruised and battered’ but uninjured
Two weeks after a Waste Management garbage truck plowed into an Armco Credit Union branch on Hollywood Drive, there still are more questions than answers.
One of the few things that can be confirmed is the state of the driver, who has yet to be publically identified.
According to Butler City Police chief Robert O’Neill, the driver was shaken, but not injured in the accident. The driver initially was taken to a hospital after the crash.
“He was shaken up and bruised and battered, but not being treated,” O’Neill said.
O’Neill added that the city police department has closed the crash as an accident.
“Both Waste Management and Armco cooperated,” O’Neill said. “State police checked the brakes and were unable to determine if there was brake failure.”
Pennsylvania State Police were unable to verify the reason for the accident.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when the garbage truck slid down a hill on a snowy morning and crashed into the building, leaving a gaping hole in the brick wall. The credit union, which was closed as a result of the accident, reopened Tuesday, Jan. 21.
