High school roundup: Alexis Cashdollar ignites Mars girls basketball in win; North Hills routs Butler

Alexis Cashdollar poured in 26 points to lead Mars to a 53-44 girls basketball section win against West Allegheny on Friday.

The Planets trailed by two points at halftime, but outscored the Indians 36-25 over the final two quarters.

Cecilia Christy added 10 points for Mars (10-7, 4-4).

Emma Ruperto tallied 13 points for West Allegheny.

Seneca Valley 47, North Allegheny 42 — Gracie Cato and Natalie Hambly both scored 14 points, and Reece McFadden chipped in with 10 for the Raiders (11-5, 6-0).

North Hills 54, Butler 28 — The Indians held the Golden Tornado to single digits in three of four quarters. Amelia McMichael scored 15 points to lead Butler (8-8, 3-3).

Boys basketball

Shane Peters dropped 32 points and added eight rebounds and five blocks in Karns City’s 83-18 demolition of Forest Area.

Cole Johnston added 14 points and Jacob Jones 11 for the Gremlins (6-8).

North Catholic 83, Valley 49 — Jude Rottmann hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 of his team-high 24 points in the first half as the Trojans made easy work of the Vikings.

Donnie Schubert netted 15 points for North (11-5, 6-1).

North Hills 44, Seneca Valley 43 (OT) — The Raiders’ 10-game win streak was snapped by the host Indians.

Zach Pollaro tallied eight of his 21 points in overtime to lift the hosts to victory.

Owen Congdon (11), Jaxon Householder (10) and Ryan Priester (10) each scored in double figures for SV (11-7, 8-2).

Knoch 81, Highlands 45 — The Knights scored 23 points in the first quarter and 29 in the third to overwhelm the Golden Rams.

Teegan Finucan led the way with 21 points, including five 3-pointers, for Knoch (13-4, 8-1).

Jackson Bauman scored 13 in the win, Brody Bauman 11 and Vinnie DeFelice 10.

Aquinas Academy 73, Summit Academy 61 — The Knights (6-6, 3-3) fell despite Robert Young’s 20 points and 15 from Ky’zir Rowan.

Hickory 66, Slippery Rock 47 — The Hornets held the potent Rockets (10-5) in check.

Josh Book netted 12 points in defeat, and Anderson Franco added 11.

Freeport 55, East Allegheny 44 — Danny King paced this win for the Yellowjackets (4-11) with 16 points.

Bryson Paga added 13 points and Mike Graczyk 12 points and eight blocks in the win.

Mars 58, West Allegheny 41 — Will Wilson scored 22 points for the Planets (10-7, 5-3). Drew Navetta added 12.
