New Jersey man charged with conspiracy to purchase MacBook with stolen card
A New Jersey man is facing charges in connection with a November incident in which he is accused of conspiring to steal a wallet containing tens of thousands of dollars from a woman at a PetSmart in Cranberry Township.
Reyson J. Peltroche Sanchez, 30, of Carteret, N.J., has been charged with fraudulently accessing a device, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and three counts of conspiracy.
Sanchez was identified through both his New Jersey license plate and through footage taken from a security camera at the PetSmart in Cranberry Township.
According to a police affidavit, the victim testified that she was shopping at PetSmart on Nov. 13, when a man who would later be identified as Sanchez distracted her while a Hispanic female took her wallet out of her purse.
The wallet contained five credit cards with a combined credit limit of $26,730, four debit cards with a combined balance of $13,207.77 and $500.
Later that day, one of those debit cards was used at a Best Buy in Cranberry Township to purchase a MacBook for $3,072.94.
According to the affidavit, Cranberry Township Police eventually were able to find the license plate for the vehicle the purchaser of the MacBook walked into and traced it to Sanchez. They also positively linked Sanchez to security camera footage from PetSmart.
The female has yet to be identified.
