Butler County 4-H members place in state horse show
Thirteen members of Butler County 4-H qualified for the state horse show, which took place Oct. 24 through 27 at the Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, including Maci Boulanger, Ella Brewster, Adele Hohn, Easton Hohn, Leah Karenbauer, Mia Karenbauer, Elizabeth King, Reed Messer, Kendall Myers, Elizabeth Olean, Emma Sasse, Rylee Sherman and Jadyn Tack.
All 13 made the trip and represented Butler County at the state level. The following placed in the top 10 of their class:

Several members received certificates and awards from their districts.
Individuals passing Level 3 of the Horsemanship Skills Program. The 4-H members recognized for passing Level 3 include: Adele Hohn, Mia Karenbauer, Maci Boulanger and Jessica Cornell.
This year’s Level 4 Horsemanship Skills awardees are Maci Boulanger, Mia Karenbauer, Adele Hohn and Jessica Cornell.
Members completing Hoof Hours were recognized for reaching milestone marks including Taylor Miller and Reed Messer each completed 500 hours.
Equine educational exhibits were on display throughout the show for individuals to demonstrate acquired horsemanship knowledge. Exhibits were judged on equine related facts and educational content.
The grand champion was the exhibit entitled “Equine Digestive System” by Jadyn Tack — Butler County.
Butler County also received third place for its senior educational exhibit with a team consisting of Reed Messer, Adele Hohn and Rylee Sherman.
More than 640 participants from over 50 counties participated in 80 performance classes in the state horse show. Participants showed more than 1,400 entries at the show.
The State 4-H Horse Show is the final competition of the year for 4-H horse members enrolled in performance horse projects. To be eligible for the show, members must advance through qualifying competitions at county and district levels. Events include showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, pleasure, over fences, driving, western riding, reining, trail and timed events. An equestrian with disabilities division for riders with special needs is also included.
