Independence Health strikes partnership with Ohio company
Independence Health System, the multihospital network that includes Butler Memorial Hospital, recently struck a strategic partnership with Ohio-based Ensemble Health Partners, a company that specializes in “revenue cycle management” — the tracking of revenue data from patients by hospitals.
“The work is focused on revenue cycle management that will drive positive outcomes for our patients and communities,” Independence Health spokesperson Melissa Forster wrote in an email to the Butler Eagle. “Thoughtful consideration was taken when entering into a partnership with Ensemble.”
Forster said the partnership is part of Independence Health’s strategic turnaround plan, which was devised by Washington D.C.-based FTI Consulting in an effort to identify opportunities to reduce expenditures and fast-track financial recovery.
The strategic partnership applies to multiple properties under the Independence Health umbrella, including Butler Memorial Hospital; Clarion Hospital; Butler Medical Providers, a network of primary-care and specialty practices in Butler and Clarion counties; and Fastercare, a network of urgent care facilities.
“Butler Memorial Hospital and Clarion Hospital look forward to the benefits that will be realized through utilizing Ensemble’s expertise and innovative technology,” said Independence CEO and president Ken DeFurio in a news release. “IHS and Ensemble are strongly committed to collaborating in a way that financial performance is most efficient, and more importantly, together we provide an excellent patient experience.”
According to Forster, there were employees at Independence Health that changed hands and became employees of Ensemble as part of the agreement, although Independence Health did not state exactly how many were affected.
“One hundred percent of the employees involved in this partnership transition were offered jobs at Ensemble,” Forster said. “Over 95% accepted those jobs, ensuring those jobs stayed in our community.”
Forster added that Ensemble honored the years of service for all employees who agreed to transition to the new company.
