College roundup: Ex-Knoch athletes score wins in Saturday track, swim meets; Pitt men beat Syracuse

Knoch graduate Alex Cotton threw a 50-0.5 in the shot put for Penn State-Behrend men’s indoor track and field Saturday at the Houghton Highlander Invitational, taking first place in the event.

It is a All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying throw.

For Penn State-Altoona swimming, Knoch grad Caden Traggiai won three events at a tri-meet Saturday against Juniata College and Elizabethtown College. Traggiai won the 800-meter freestyle (9:01.28), the 400 free (4:24.44) and the 200 individual medley (2:24.91).

Mars grad Isaacs reaches milestone

Annalyn Isaacs, a sophomore guard for Mt. Aloysius women’s basketball, made her 100th career 3-pointer for the Mounties. The Mars grad set the record in Wednesday’s 78-59 win over Pitt-Greensburg and finished with 13 points.

Pitt men beat Syracuse on road

Jaland Lowe scored a game-high 22 points, 17 coming in the second half, to lead Pitt men’s basketball to a 77-73 win Saturday at Syracuse.

Zack Austin scored 10 points, Ishmael Leggett scored 16, Cameron Corhen scored 12 and Damian Dunn 10 for the Panthers (13-6, 4-4 ACC).
