Daniel Jay Harrington

Harrington

Daniel Jay Harrington, 69, of Slippery Rock, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, after a short illness. He was surrounded by family who deeply loved him.

He was born on May 5, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Floyd and Thelma (Beyer) Harrington. The family moved to Franklin, Mass., when Daniel was 2 years old. As a young adult, he moved to Wallkill, N.Y., to volunteer in the construction of the printery at the Watchtower complex.

In 1975, he married Meg O’Buckley. In time, they moved to Butler and worked alongside his father in the family business.

Daniel was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he served as an elder in the Butler congregation. He was a full-time volunteer in the community, helping people learn about the Bible. Because of his deep love for people, he spent much time supporting those in the local congregation, the Butler Prison and Butler Memorial Hospital. In addition, he had a great passion for traveling, which included traveling the world with his family. He will be deeply missed among his family and friends.

Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Meg Harrington; his children, Jennifer Harrington and Janelle (Shingo) Yamasaki; his grandchild, Yoshia Yamasaki; his siblings, David (Cindy) Harrington, Dara (Crystal) Harrington, Debra (John) Kidd and Dina (Gary) Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family gives special thanks to Dr. Dillion Stein, Dr. Jaison Golojuh, Meagan Sutton and Medi Home Hospice.

HARRINGTON — Private funeral arrangements for Daniel Jay Harrington, who died Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
