Joseph Slick Jr.
Joseph E. Slick Jr., 87, of Forest Hills and Bradys Bend, Pa., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025.
He was born in North Braddock on May 14, 1937, to Joseph E. Slick Sr. and Sara K. (Gettig) Slick.
Joe was the father of Joseph D. Slick and John D. Slick (Michele); former spouse of Jeanie Slick Bergman; brother of Linda Rich (Dave), the late Barbara Ann Whelpley (the late Richard) and the late Lawrence A. Slick; uncle of Scott Whelpley, Lindsey Lopez (Elliot), Lori Beth Aguila and the late Lee Ann Whelpley; and great-uncle of Harper and Luke. He is also survived by his partner of many years, Sherry Stoner; and their dog, Rocky.
Joe graduated from Braddock High School and was a member of the Juniata College graduating class of 1959. He worked for Peoples Natural Gas Company for his entire career as an accounting manager. He served in the Army National Guard, was a Pittsburgh Jaycee, and was active in Boy Scout Troop 98.
Joe loved the Allegheny River, where he enjoyed boating at Bradys Bend, as well as cross-country skiing in the Laurel Highlands, and hiking the trails of Western Pennsylvania. Joe loved and enjoyed the company of dogs and was known to always carry dog biscuits in his pocket.
SLICK — Friends of Joseph E. Slick Jr., who died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at WOLFE MEMORIAL, Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at McMasters United Methodist Church, 200 Church St., Turtle Creek, Pa. Everyone please meet at church.
Interment will be in William Penn Cemetery.
