ADAMS TWP — The township is close to having the entrance to the municipal building on Valencia Road repaired nearly three months after it was severely damaged in a vehicle accident.

Vogel Disposal Services, which is based in nearby Mars, is fronting all costs to repair damage from the accident, which happened when one of the company’s truck’s crashed into the entrance. As a result of the accident, the overhang above the front entrance is currently supported by temporary scaffolding.

“The garbage truck went underneath and ruined the entranceway,” said township supervisor Ronald Shemela. “The Vogels have stepped up and we’re going to have a guy start on it (soon).”

According to Shemela, the accident occurred the night of Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 — the night before election day.

Shemela said the township expects the contractor to start within the next month.

“They’re (Vogel) paying the contractors. It’s no cost to the township,” Shemela said. “There’s some testing and things that need to be done structurally.”
