Butler County veterans win, place in national art competition

Two county veterans won first place honors in the 2024 National Veterans Creative Arts Competition.

Marine veteran Lori Ceder, of Butler, won first place in the art division for two of her submissions, “Reminiscing My Childhood” (fiber arts kit) and “Haunted House” (stained or painted figurines). She also won second place for a third submission.

Army veteran Krystal Anspach, of Slippery Rock, won first place for her submission “A Bushel of Fairies” (diorama).

Additional winners included Army veteran Joseph Gluz, of Spring Church, Armstrong County, who won second place for an oil painting; Army veteran Lindsey Anderson, of Parker, for a mosaic; Navy veteran Shawnee Young, of Butler, for a fiber arts pattern; and Navy veteran Trudy Neumann, of Lyndora, for a stained/painted figurine. Marine veteran Timothy Sutton, of Butler, won third place nationally for a transfer/engraving art kit.

The first-place winners are invited to attend the national festival held May 11-18 in Indianapolis, Ind.
