Jefferson Township gets grant funding for SEBCO Pool renovation
The office of state Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, announced Tuesday that Jefferson Township was awarded $125,000 in grant funding through Pennsylvania’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to support repairs to the SEBCO Pool at Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park.
The community pool, a summer hot spot for residents of southeastern Butler County, has been open since the late 1960s, and Jefferson Township has been looking to raise money for a renovation project, which is valued at over $1 million.
This $125,000 amount is in addition to a $555,000 grant Jefferson Township received in mid-2022 from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. That grant came with a catch, however: It required a 100% match, meaning the township needs to come up with $555,000 of its own money to receive the funds.
Last August, engineering firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic was awarded a contract for design services for the “big-ticket” items in the renovation — namely, a new mechanical building, deck, pool liner, pump, slide and enhanced accessibility.
“For decades, the pool facilities have provided area residents with a place to cool off in the summertime while offering lessons and team activities for personal growth,” Mustello said in a news release. “This funding will allow Jefferson Township to make much-needed improvements to the facilities, enabling them to remain a safe and enjoyable place for years to come.”
