Parker Township senior charged with DUI for December crash

A senior from Parker Township has been charged in connection with an alleged drunk-driving accident in Franklin Township that involved four vehicles and seriously injured one woman.

James M. Haskin, 74, of Parker Township, has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to stop at a red signal and careless driving causing a serious bodily injury.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 422 and Eagle Mill Road the night of Dec. 20. While traveling east on Route 422, Haskin ran a red light and crashed into three other cars, police said.

One woman sustained a broken ankle, tibia and fibula. According to the police affidavit, she underwent surgery and is currently recovering.

The affidavit states Haskin said the accident happened while he traveled from the Longhorn Corral bar, where he had multiple drinks. Prior to going to the Longhorn, Haskin told police he also went to Vin & Joe’s Inn on Oneida Valley Road.

Haskin was arrested for DUI and underwent a Breathalyzer test, which revealed his blood alcohol content was 0.098% — above Pennsylvania’s legal limit of 0.08%.

A preliminary hearing and arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m., before District Judge Joseph Nash.
