Armstrong County workers set to strike
Service Employees International Union 668 members at Armstrong County Children, Youth, and Families and the Assessor’s Office announced they are set to strike on Friday, Jan. 31.
Workers have been without a contract for seven months and will picket at the Armstrong County Courthouse, 500 Market St. in Kittanning, beginning at 7 a.m. They will hold a rally at 11:30 a.m.
According to the SEIU, low wages for caseworkers have resulted in a staffing crisis, with 30% of caseworkers’ positions remaining unfilled.
