Butler woman arrested, accused of assaulting officer

A Butler woman was arrested on Jan. 23 in connection with an incident in which police said she kicked a police officer and repeatedly resisted being taken into custody for a bench warrant.

Chloe C. Piper, 24, of Butler, has been charged with felony assault of a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

According to the police affidavit, officers from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office showed up that Thursday to take Piper into custody, but Piper was unwilling to go. The affidavit states that Piper refused to let officers into her apartment, tried to slip out of handcuffs, and had to be physically carried by officers into a patrol vehicle.

The affidavit said that once officers put her into the back seat of the patrol vehicle, she kicked one officer hard enough to dislodge his body camera.

Piper is currently confined to Butler County Jail. Her bail is set at $50,000, which she was unable to post. A preliminary hearing for Piper has been scheduled for Monday, Feb. 3 at 10:30 a.m. in front of Judge William T. Fullerton.

Just two and a half months earlier, Piper had previously been arrested and charged in connection with a September incident in which she allegedly screamed at a delivery driver in the middle of the night and threw a coffee mug at him from a third-story window.

Piper was charged with propulsion of missiles onto roadways, disorderly conduct, harassment by following in a public place, and scattering rubbish upon land. That case is still active.
