3 injured in head-on collision in Center Township
CENTER TWP — Three people were transported to local hospitals after sustaining injuries — one potentially serious — in a head-on collision between two vehicles which took place Friday, Jan. 31 on Oneida Valley Road.
The accident was first reported around 4 p.m. Friday, and involved a dark blue Toyota Highlander SUV and a white Kia SUV.
According to Shaun Milkovich, assistant fire chief with the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, the accident occurred when the white Kia crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Toyota.
The driver of the white Kia was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with what Malkovich called “suspected serious injuries,” while the passenger of the Kia and the driver of the Toyota were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
A section of Oneida Valley Road was closed between Glenwood Way and Pine Tract Road shortly after the crash, with emergency crews forcing traffic to detour onto Glenwood Way until the scene was cleared around 5:15 p.m.
In addition to the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company; Pennsylvania State Police, Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Butler Ambulance Service and East Butler Ambulance all responded to the scene.
