Section of Interstate 80 closed due to multiple crashes now open

A section of Interstate 80 near Emlenton, in Clarion County, was closed for about two hour Sunday, Feb. 2, due to a series of vehicle accidents.

Units from the Marion Township and Harrisville volunteer fire companies, in Butler County, were called to help close the road at mile markers 29 and 35.

The incidents began at about 3 p.m. and the road was not opened until almost 5 p.m., according to PennDOT’s 511 website.

According to a Clarion County 911 dispatcher, there were “multiple” accidents along Interstate 80, as well as crashes and disabled vehicles in Parker City, in Armstrong County.

A Venango County dispatcher said that there are “many” tractor trailers stuck along Interstate 80, and there were multiple injuries reported.

“We're running out of ambulances, actually,” the Venango dispatcher said at the time.

A small portion of Interstate 80 runs through Allegheny Township, in Butler County.
