Irene M. Miller, 73, of Karns City, went to be with the Lord while in the company of her loving family late Sunday morning, Feb. 2, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Irene was born in Butler on Feb. 14, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Naomi Irene Murdick Cockroft.

She was a 1969 graduate of Butler High School and had earned an associate degree in medical coding at Butler County Community College. Irene had been employed at Witco in Petrolia and as a CNA at Sunnyview and Chicora Medical Center.

She was a member of Zion Church in Karns City. Irene enjoyed sewing, diamond art, family vacations to the beach, her trip to Niagara Falls, and most especially the company of her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Miller, whom she married in Butler on April 24, 1971. Also surviving are two daughters, Cheri L. Conoran of Petrolia and Kristi L. Pletcher and her husband, Justin, of Bruin; a daughter-in-law, Annette Lapen; 11 grandchildren, Kelsey, Karlene, Kassidy, Hanna, Hayle, Hope, Hadley, Harmony, Ethan, Jacob and Abby, and their spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; and Irene was looking forward to the birth of her 13th great-grandchild soon. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Cockroft Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Butler and Leonard Cockroft and his wife, Robin, of Boonsboro, Md.; a sister, Shaina Singer and her husband, William “Bill,” of Hilliards; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce W. Miller Jr.

MILLER — Friends of Irene M. Miller, who died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Irene’s pastor, the Rev. Joe Olkowski, officiating.
