High school roundup: Karns City’s Shane Peters reaches 1,000 points in boys basketball win

In a boys basketball game that featured senior Shane Peters surpassing 1,000 career points, Karns City was too much for visiting North Clarion, winning 62-42.

Cole Johnston contributed 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Gremlins (9-11).

Moniteau 56, A-C Valley 47 — Connor Ealy had a team-high 16 points for the winning Warriors, while Brendin Sankey added 11 points and 13 boards.

Armstrong 53, Freeport 36 — Danny King had a team-high 10 points for the Yellowjackets.

Swimming

Preston Heynes (200-yard IM, 500 free) and Luke Lamb (100 free, 100 back) were double winners as Mars’ boys team downed Butler 93-42. Addison Vance (200 free, 100 back) won a pair of singles events as the Golden Tornado girls beat the Planets 105-79.

Bowling

Freeport’s boys and girls teams both swept Apollo-Ridge on Wednesday night. Hannah Windows had a 700 series for the Yellowjackets, including a 246 high game. Colin Cummings rolled a 720 series and had a 258 high game.

Boys wrestling

Caden Hassler, Emmett Carbungco, Jarrett Crowe, Keegan Orris, Tanner Crowe, Anthony Jula, Owen Layhew, Brayden McGowan, Wyatt Foster and Lucas Rouleau all had wins as Knoch beat Brashear 56-12. The Knights (9-6) face West Shamokin next Wednesday.

Seneca Valley 36, Highlands 29 — Landon Davis (215 lbs.), Thomas Wuycheck (285), Logan Brethauer (121), Cole Corrigan (127), Tyler Nguyen (133), Dean Sauers (152) and James Bidoli (172) had wins for the Raiders.
