William Cicco
William J. Cicco, 83, of Butler, passed away while surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.
He was born Nov. 16, 1941, and was the firstborn son of his late parents, William Joseph Cicco and Mary Louise Kopp.
After graduating from Butler High School in 1959, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America while employed at Pullman Standard as a painter and an hourly foreman. He garnered many performance awards while working at the VA Medical Center in Butler, and received the Employee of the Year Award in 1999.
Bill was a union member of the National Association of Government Employees, a NAGE Union Safety Officer, a member of the Tin Can Sailors Association, and the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. He was a “Big Steelers Fan” since 1963, and ever since 2004, one of his greatest pleasures was going to Florida for the winter.
In his final moments, he was at home surrounded by his loving wife, Linda, whom he married in 1992; his pets, Katie and Emma; and his dear friends, Bob and Debbie Shearer.

Bill will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
