Seneca Valley orchestra students play in PMEA
Students in the Seneca Valley Orchestra program recently participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 2, 3 & 5 Orchestra under the direction of conductor Timothy Dixon.
According to a Thursday, Feb. 6, news release, 12 students from Seneca Valley High School participated in the program, which took place Jan. 9 through 11 at Collegiate Academy in Erie. The students are Elizabeth Browne, Cortlan Harrell, Isaac Hixon, Benny James, Heath Lyon, Isabella Muthler, Dylan Neal, Jake Pieszak, Ava Platt, Morgan Roithner, Imogen Tomo and Henrique Vilas Boas Casimiro.
The program culminated in a concert on the last day, when students performed selections from Bizet, Dvorak and Sibelius. Sophomore bassist Benny made school district history by being the high school’s first first-chair bassist in the program.
Elizabeth, Benny, Heath, Isabella, Jake and Ava will advance to PMEA Western Region Orchestra in Johnstown at the end of February.
