Celebrate George Washington’s birthday with a hike and cherry pie at Jennings Environmental Education Center
You can hike through history, stroll through nature and enjoy some cherry pie on Saturday, Feb. 22, in honor of George Washington’s birthday, and his 1753 journey through the region.
It all happens at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Brady Township. Visitors can choose from nine guided hikes and walks.
The annual commemoration is sponsored by Washington’s Trail 1753, the Butler Chapter of the North Country Trail Association, Harmony Museum, Butler Outdoor Club, Experience Butler County, North Country Brewing and Jennings Environmental Education Center.
Each hike is limited in size, so hikers must make a reservation by Thursday, Feb. 20, to secure a spot. To reserve a hiking spot, go to events.dcnr.pa.gov, then search “Cherry Pie.” The cost is a cash donation to the park at $5 per person or $15 for a family.
