Semitruck overturns on Florida roadway, spilling ‘large volume of beer,’ officials say
A Florida roadway was closed for several hours after a semitruck overturned and spilled a “large volume of beer,” officials said.
Cases of Busch Light beer poured out of the truck after the wreck, which happened at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 13 on Interstate 75 near a rest area in Ruskin, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The 53-year-old driver was traveling south when he miscalculated a curve, causing the truck to leave the roadway, highway patrol said.
The driver was taken to a hospital nearby with non-life-threatening injuries, according to highway patrol.
Highway patrol said in a Feb. 13 post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the beer spill “left quite a mess on the shoulder.”
Crews cleaned up the road, and it reopened at 9 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson.
