High school roundup: Karns City players make All-KSAC teams; girls rout Cranberry
The KSAC announced its all-conference boys and girls basketball teams this week.
Karns City girls basketball’s Naomi Venesky and Brooklyn Taylor were named first team. Savannah Prescott was named second team, and Moniteau’s Sophia Fleeger was named third team.
On the boys’ side, KC’s Shane Peters was named co-MVP with Redbank Valley’s Breckin Minich, making first team as well. Karns City’s Cole Johnston and Union’s Gage Jordan were named third team.
Karns City rolled to a KSAC Tournament semifinal victory Friday over Cranberry Area, as Naomi Venesky led the way with 17 points in a 45-27 win.
Savanna Prescott scored 14 points, and Brooklynn Taylor added 11 for the Gremlins.
Redbank Valley 56, Moniteau 28 — Sophia Fleeger scored a team-high 13 points in a KSAC semifinal loss.
Karns City and Redbank will play in Saturday’s tournament championship game at 8 p.m.
Keystone 54, Union/A-C Valley 31 — Maddy Dehart scored a game-high 17 points, tying Keystone’s Ashlee Albright.
Slippery Rock 45, Greenville 35 — The Rockets closed the regular season with their seventh straight win Thursday, with CJ Sabo posting 14 points, four rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
Madison Romanovich added 14 points and seven rebounds, Belle Miller seven boards for Slippery Rock (17-5).
