Butler high school drumming junior joins high-level bands
Butler Senior High School’s Music Department announced that Ty Young, an accomplished percussionist and drum set musician, has been selected for two of the nation’s most prestigious musical ensembles in 2025. Ty will join the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Band and the National Association for Music Education Modern Band.
A standout member of Butler High School’s music program, Ty has been actively involved in numerous school ensembles, including the Tornado Big Band, Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble. His versatility and skill also have earned him recognition through PMEA, with selections to Honors Band, District Band, Region Orchestra and the 2024 PMEA State Orchestra.
“Ty is an extraordinary musician and a role model for his peers,” said Jeffrey Kroner, Butler Senior High School’s band director. “His passion for music and relentless work ethic have propelled him to these well-deserved achievements.”
Young’s accomplishments reflect his commitment to excellence and his ability to excel across various musical styles, according to the announcement. As he looks ahead to his senior year, he continues to inspire his fellow students and the broader community with his talent and dedication.
