Frigid weather, more snow ahead for Butler County this week

Winter Weather DME

Butler County is under a cold weather advisory from the National Weather Service, which took effect at 10 p.m. Monday night and lasts until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Feb. 18.

On three straight days — Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 17 through 19 — temperatures are expected to dip below 10 degrees during the night. With wind-chill factor included, temperatures will fall below zero Monday night through Tuesday night.

In addition to Butler County, the advisory covers all or parts of eight other counties, including Clarion, Jefferson, Indiana, Armstrong, Westmoreland, Fayette; Preston, W.Va.; and Tucker, W.Va.

“Right now, we're looking at high temperatures in the upper teens for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,” said Andrew Kienzle, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. “We're advising caution. Make sure to cover exposed skin. Make sure to protect your pets and keep them indoors.”
