Slippery Rock boys basketball had recently gone cold, losing five of its final six regular season games.

The No. 10 Rockets were able to right the ship in time to save their season, defeating seventh-seed Fairview 54-44 in a District 10 Class 4A first-round playoff game Tuesday at Hagerty Family Events Center in Erie.

The Rockets, who led 46-29 after three quarters, received 22 points from senior Josh Book.

Fairview finished the season at 15-8.

Slippery Rock (13-10) will face No. 2 Hickory (16-5) in a quarterfinal Friday at a site and time to be determined.
