Richard P. Bauer, 63, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.

He was born April 2, 1961, in Queens, N.Y., a son of the late Richard B. Bauer and Lois A. (Gallagher) Bauer.

Richard was a retired truck driver, lastly working for McClymonds Transport for more than 10 years. He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church.

He enjoyed music, cooking, walking, was an avid sports fan (especially watching the Pittsburgh Steelers), loved fireworks on the Fourth of July and, most of all, caring for his cat, Chief. He had a true heart of gold and was known for his infectious laugh.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Kitty Hawk.

Surviving him are his siblings, John (Judith) Bauer, Veronica Andrews, Eric (Brigette) Bauer and Erika Blystone; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

BAUER — Friends of Richard P. Bauer, who died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. Military honors to follow Mass at the church.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.
