Slippery Rock borough council previews new site
SLIPPERY ROCK — Members of borough council previewed a new website, featuring an event calendar, an updated look and news alert sign-ups, at its regular meeting on Feb. 18.
• The website’s event calendar will feature upcoming university and borough events, and borough meetings. Borough manager Christian Laskey said the hope is to create a “hub” for the borough’s events.
The website will also feature a sign-up option for news alerts pertaining to the borough. According to Laskey, the alerts will be “very customizable,” and allow residents to toggle specific alert types.
• Laskey filed for an extension for a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The current leftover funds, roughly $16,000, will be spent on laptops to fix a compatibility issue with recently purchased cameras.
• The board unanimously approved an amendment to a 2010 resolution related to Giant Eagle’s liquor license. The language in the resolution made it so Giant Eagle could not switch from an eating place license to a retail license.
• The board also unanimously approved five closures of Main Street for 2025. The closures are for the year’s Independence Day, VillageFest, Oktoberfest, Homecoming and Light-Up Night celebrations.
The next borough council meeting is scheduled for March 4 at 7 p.m.
