High school roundup: North Catholic girls basketball makes WPIAL semifinals, secures PIAA berth

North Catholic girls basketball advanced to the WPIAL Class 4A semifinals with a 41-25 win Thursday night over No. 6 South Park.
Brady Wehner scored a game-high 18 points in the win.
The No. 3 Trojanettes broke the game open in the third quarter. Leading 13-11 at halftime, they went on a 22-3 run and never looked back.
NC, which secured one of the six WPIAL spots in the PIAA Tournament in March, will face No. 2 Oakland Catholic, which beat No. 7 Central Valley 66-29, in Monday’s semifinals at a site and time to be determined.
