Miller Minutes: Some Butler County events that are worth the extra pair of pants
Things are clearly heating up in Butler County this weekend, because this lineup of events is stellar.
People, itching with cabin fever, are braving the cold for the sake of a good time — and that, in itself, is commendable.
If you were on the fence about going out this weekend, let me talk you off it.
You have the opportunity to walk to various events throughout the county. Yes, it will be cold, but I promise these gatherings are worth the extra pair of pants you might have to wear. The Age of Aquarius art and music festival and the Butler AM Rotary’s Carved in Ice festival are happening simultaneously, with events inside of events (“event-ception,” if you get that reference).
These festivals, and the plethora of others mentioned below, are great opportunities to reconnect with your neighbors and get involved in the community.
In terms of the Age of Aquarius festival, art is giving way to art and being celebrated with music and visually stunning pieces.
Carved in Ice is truly one-in-a-million in its own way. The pieces will be around for a while after the event concludes, slowly descending into the pavement with the rest of the snow when the weather warms.
Needless to say, it is your own fault if you’re bored this weekend. Check out what else is going on below.
Butler Art Center & Gallery’s weeklong festival “The Age of Aquarius” runs until Saturday night. Throughout that time, the gallery, at 344 S. Main St., will host concerts and exhibits. For a complete list, visit butlerartcenterandgallery.org/AOA-Music-and-Arts-Festival.
Butler AM Rotary’s Carved in Ice festival, which runs Friday and Saturday, is fun for the whole family.
