Summit Township approves salt contract, service agreement on heavy machinery

SUMMIT TWP — At a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19, members of the township’s board of supervisors approved a salt contract and service agreement. The board:

  • approved a 1,500-ton salt contract through COSTARS for the 2025-26 season. The new contract is the same amount of salt as 2024-25.
  • also approved the signing of a four-year service agreement with Cleveland Brothers equipment company. The agreement, for a wheel loader and compact track loader, will tentatively be signed after Supervisor Larry Osche receives necessary clarification regarding when the equipment is not used. If signed, the wheel loader will cost $1,450 and the compact track loader will cost $1,050 per year.
  • approved two invoices from Bradigan’s for gasoline and diesel fuel, totaling $3,120.84, and two invoices from Compass Minerals for 112.51 tons of road salt, totaling $10,133.78.
  • approved an invoice related to a small compact track loader, totaling $110,125. The board is utilizing roughly $105,300 from a Local Share Account grant.

The next board of supervisors meeting is scheduled for March 5 at 6:45 p.m.
