CENTER TWP — Duffy Highlands, a new housing development in Center and Butler townships, officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon, Feb. 20.

Duffy Highlands began construction under Brennan Homes, but was transferred to D.R. Horton after Brennan closed.

Amberly Young, sales representative at Duffy Highlands, offered tours of a model duplex to local real estate agents in a private ribbon cutting ceremony. Tours ran from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Shortly after 1 p.m., everyone gathered in the dining area to cut the ribbon.

Jordan Grady, Butler County Chamber of Commerce president, also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and toured the duplex as well as the development’s community center.

“Developments like Duffy Highlands offer new housing opportunities for county residents,” Grady said. “New homeowners prefer communities like these, so hopefully it can attract people to the area.”

Grady hopes bringing new people to the area will bring more to the local economy.

While the development officially opened this afternoon, Young said five properties have already been sold. According to Young, 40 total properties are expected to be sold, with another 20 or so planned for future development.

“Duffy Highlands will help to bring in investors and businesses will receive more business than before,” Young said. “We have three communities in a 10-mile radius by D.R. Horton, so we’re bringing a lot of new people into the area.”

Duffy Highlands will host a grand opening event for the public on Saturday, Feb. 22.
