Seneca Valley School District will dive into Bikini Bottom with a rendition of “The SpongeBob Musical.”

The musical will be held at the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School auditorium, 126 Seneca School Road, on Feb. 27 and 28 and March 1 at 7 p.m., as well as matinees on March 1 and 2 at 2 p.m.

Seneca Valley said in a news release this year’s musical “brings SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and the rest of the Bikini Bottom gang to life as they face the thrilling challenge of a looming volcanic eruption.”

The show will be part of Seneca Valley’s All School Musical, where students in grades nine to 12 have the opportunity to produce a full-scale musical.

The rendition will be a sensory-friendly performance, according to the district. It will be designed to provide a comfortable theater experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism and other needs.

“It’s a show where everyone can have a fin-tastic time! We will make some adjustments, like lower sounds and brighter lights, to make the experience more comfortable for everyone,” according to a district flyer.

The musical will have dim lights, low-key sounds and seating with extra wiggle room, according to the flyer, and children are allowed to bring fidgets and stuffed animals. Staff will be around to help, and there also will be American Sign Language interpreters on stage.

The show will be around two hours long with a 15-minute intermission. Cost is $12 for adults and $10 for students.

“Audience members will enjoy infectious songs and dazzling dance numbers during this underwater adventure filled with optimism, friendship and the power of community,” according to a district news release.
