Founder's Day Celebration
More than 300 employees and community leaders attended Armco Steel's Founder's Day ceremonies and luncheon on in April of 1948 in the Reclamation Warehouse building. Some of the guests were, from left, attorney Carmen V. Marinaro, Monseigneur William J. Spiegel, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Dr. William T. Bean, principal of the Butler Senior High School, Joseph Kondos, inspection department, with his son, Paul Kondos, winner of the 1948 George M. Verity Educational Opportunity Fund scholarship, Dr. John D. Anderson, superintendent of Butler City schools, the Rev. W. Scott McMunn, pastor of the Second United Presbyterian Church, George Bernlohr, student adviser of the Butler Senior High School and Floyd Smith, training adviser at the Butler Armco plant.
