Police Reports

The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts:

State police, Butler

8:41 p.m. Feb. 13 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on South Washington Street in Evans City. Police said Jacob D. Mahafkey, 20, of Gibsonia, rear-ended the vehicle of Stephanie L. Edinger, 37, of Ellwood City. Police said Edinger was transported to UPMC Passavant — Cranberry.

Feb. 18 — Haley Elizabeth Layton, 36, of Espyville, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of driving under the influence, controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a Feb. 12 traffic stop in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Layton possessed 98 glassine bags of heroin and showed signs of impairment before refusing a blood draw.

Feb. 18 — Vincent Kelly, 40, of Espyville, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a Dec. 12 traffic stop in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Kelly possessed 11 empty stamp bags and three with a white powder substance inside.

Feb. 18 — Melissa Sue Gutshall, 40, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor controlled substance possession related to a Feb. 13 incident in Brady Township. Police said Gutshall possessed an orange pill when she was arrested on an active warrant.

Adams Twp

Feb. 14 — Leanne Marie Woods, 34, of Pittsburgh, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence related to a Dec. 25 incident. Police said Woods had a blood alcohol content of 0.217%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.

Feb. 14 — Gino Juliano Johnson, 29, of Mars, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of drug paraphernalia possession and controlled substance possession related to a Sept. 9 incident. Police said Johnson had in his vehicle a drug kit with heroin, a white powder and white rock-like substance, five syringe end caps, four sterile water capsules for injections and two Marlboro cigarettes with torn filters, two rubber bands used for packaging and two boxes of syringes, two loose syringes and two extra needles.

Butler Twp

9:56 a.m. Feb. 13 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on South Benbrook Road under the Route 422 overpass. Police said a FedEx delivery truck operated by Erik Lopez-Moreno, 25, of Pittsburgh, was stopped for a utility company flagger and was rear-ended by a Nissan Versa driven by Jace Olexak, 24, of Butler. Police said the Nissan Versa went up an embankment and got stuck on a guide wire. Both drivers were uninjured, and the road was closed for about an hour until the vehicle was removed from the guide wire, according to the report.

4:52 p.m. Feb. 16 — Police responded to a single-vehicle accident westbound on Route 422. Police said Helen J. Jeffries, 69, of Butler, rolled her vehicle over and was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Cranberry Twp

Feb. 13 — Christopher Colon, 35, of New Castle, was charged with felony retail theft and misdemeanor receiving stolen property related to a Feb. 2 incident. Police said Colon stole $1,071.86 in goods from Walmart.
