SV gas leak prompts remote learning day for grades 7-12
Seneca Valley School District said students grades seven to 12 will have a remote learning day Wednesday, Feb. 26 due to a gas leak.
A small gas leak was detected outside of the district’s senior high school building, according to a news release sent Tuesday afternoon.
The district said the gas supply was immediately shut off across the entire secondary campus while an investigation is underway.
The district said People’s Gas identified the cause of the leak, and has confirmed the buildings and grounds on the secondary campus are safe. However, People’s Gas does not anticipate restoring service in time for tomorrow, meaning secondary campus buildings will not have access to heat or hot water during the day.
Students grades seven to 12 will have a remote learning day, which will followed a delayed start, which Seneca Valley said is standard. Other grades, and after-school activities, will have normal schedules.
