Cranberry Township supervisors approve rebid of Community Park fencing project
CRANBERRY TWP — Supervisors tweaked plans for the Community Park Amenity Fencing Project during an agenda preparation meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27.
A low bid of $220,000 to install fencing around the new pickleball and tennis courts, along with the baseball fields at the community park, was rejected.
However, supervisors approved an authorization to rebid the project, which will now only include fencing around the new courts.
“So we’re going to separate that out and just move forward with the projects we have to move forward with at this point, which is the tennis and pickleball courts,” township manager Dan Santoro said.
Santoro said he couldn’t pinpoint a preferred number for a bid on the slimmed down version of the project because the baseball fields were included on the original proposal.
He also noted that township officials will look at ways to upgrade the fencing around the baseball fields later.
“We will continue to look at things we need to replace and budget for those replacements,” he added.
The original fencing was torn down to revamp the tennis courts and build the fresh pickleball courts, which were both paved last fall.
Additionally, supervisors will be asked to consider approval of a contract award for the court coating and the line painting on those courts. Two Men and A Striper is in line for that contract, which totals $58,869.
If everything goes according to plan with the new fencing and painting work, officials anticipate those courts to be ready sometime in April.
“There’s no reason they shouldn’t be using those courts by early spring,” Santoro said.
