Rev. Jeffrey MacKay
Surrounded by family and close friends, Jeffrey A. MacKay, 61, of Evans City, stepped into heaven to be with Jesus, after a brief battle with lung and brain cancer, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.
He was born Jan. 26, 1964, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Barb and Gordon MacKay. He grew up with three brothers, Gary, Greg and Mike, before attending Baptist Bible College in Class Summit, Pa., to pursue God’s call in ministry.
He wholeheartedly pastored for much of the past 30 years in Michigan, Iowa and Pennsylvania. He loved God’s word, and was thankful for any opportunity to preach and teach it to people he deeply loved. He loved his family fiercely and loved the time he spent with them.
He was one of the hardest working people on the planet, and he loved physical labor as a balance to study. He could fix absolutely anything! He loved being outside, mowing grass, mulching and visiting with his lawn customers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, “Beck” (aka Rebecca or Becky); his seven children, Amber and Jamie Lindsay, Ashley and Larry Kerns, Emily and Ethan Mawhinney, and Jared, Natalie, Joel and Shaylee MacKay; and his nine adored grandchildren, Mia, Reagan, Levi and Whitney Lindsay, and Owens and Weston Mawhinney, and Tripp, Ellie and Scottie Kerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Barbara MacKay; and his grandparents.
