Butler Township police charged a Saxonburg contractor Monday with accepting $600 from a resident to replace his roof, but not doing the work or returning the money.

Matthew E. Bluming, 38, was charged with receiving advance payment and failing to perform. Police said the resident paid Bluming on Sept. 18 toward the total bill of $1,480. After he didn’t do the work or return the money, police said they tried to contact Bluming via certified letter and phone, but did not reach him.
