Mary Jane (Desmond) Crowe, 87, of Butler, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025. Born Aug. 8, 1937, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel (Suchonic) Desmond, of Butler.

She was a member of All Saints Parish — St. Pauls’ R.C. Church. She graduated from Butler High School. Mary Jane worked in several downtown stores including Troutman’s, Jaffe’s and D&K. She then went to work for the Butler Area School District in the food service department where she worked for 18 years, retiring in 1994. Mary Jane was also a homemaker for 25 years. She was a member of the St. Paul Woman’s Guild, the YMCA and a social member of the East Butler Auxiliary. Mary Jane enjoyed country music, square dancing and going to Moraine Park.

Mary Jane is survived by one daughter, Amy (Scott) (Crowe) Schultz of Evans City. She also is survived by one brother, James J. Desmond; one niece, Marina K. (Bolek) Hoszwa; and a great-nephew, Sam Hoszwa, who were always there for Mary Jane. She also had three nephews, Dana (Linda) Desmond, Edward (Tammy) Desmond of Butler and Douglas John Desmond of Kennerdale. She also is survived by several great-nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hazel Desmond; one brother, John “Jack” Desmond; and one sister, Catherine “Kate” Desmond.

CROWE — A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Jane (Desmond) Crowe, who died Thursday, March 6, 2025, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at All Saints Parish — St. Paul R.C. Church.

Burial will be held privately, with no visitation or viewing.

Arrangements were made privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
