Edward Wolford
Edward R. Wolford, 71, of Zelienople, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
Born July 4, 1953, in Texas, he was the son of the late Norman B. and Catherine A. (Baldinger) Wolford.
Ed was a devoted member of Divine Grace Parish, St. Gregory Church. He was also a longtime leader and contributor of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. A graduate of Robert Morris University, he worked for 30 years at Tuscarora Inc. alongside friends and mentors, finishing his tenure there as vice president and controller. He finished his career with valued colleagues at Matthews International, as vice president of finance for memorialization.
Ed’s truest joys in life came from his 51½ years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Elaine, raising his children, cherishing his grandchildren and hosting countless family gatherings to welcome his large family into his home. His favorite pastimes included chatting with every customer at Elluinger’s Meats and Deli, riding his tractor with Nathaniel and creating shenanigans with Caroline. Ed was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, but his favorite was cheering on Penn State and Notre Dame.
Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Elaine Elluinger Wolford; his children, Dr. Jennifer Wolford (Michael) Hill and Brian Wolford; his grandchildren, Caroline and Nathaniel Hill; his sisters, Patricia (Frank) Mazur and Judy Anderson; his brothers, James (Janet) Wolford, Jack (Tracey) Wolford, Robert (Betsy) Wolford and Charles (Kathleen) Wolford; his in-laws, David (Michelle) Elluinger, Judi (Steve) Dragun, Jacque (Mike) Gray and Mary Ellen (Andy) Maslaney; and many nieces and nephews, who loved “Uncle Ed.”
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Christine Elluinger Thomas; and his brother-in-law, Mark Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to plant trees and flowers, enjoy the spring blooming and think of Ed and what he taught us. His generosity and kindness, his belief in the best of us, and his always encouraging words have impacted us all and will for our lifetime.
