Ruth Dorothy Mirage, 100, of Saxonburg, formerly of Cochranton, passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, at Magnolia Place of Saxonburg.

Born Oct. 3, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Leah Drebert Banyay.

While living in Mars, she was a member of St. Kilian Parish and then when they moved north, she belonged to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Cochranton. She was a faithful member of Christian Mothers.

In her early years, Ruth was a bookkeeper at the former hardware store in Evans City. She enjoyed raising her four children and then worked at St. John’s in Mars as a housekeeper until her husband became ill and she then took loving care of him.

Ruth’s hobbies were cooking, baking, sewing and bingo. Along with her husband, she enjoyed raising and selling minks for many decades.

She is survived by her children, Donna Martin of Butler, Lawrence (Carrie) Mirage, Joseph (Cindy) Mirage and Harry (Nancy) Mirage, all of Cochranton; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Mirage, whom she married Oct. 2, 1954, and who passed away March 29, 2008; and her siblings, Kate Welsh, Agnus Best, John Banyay, Chuck Banyay, Paul Banyay and Edward Banyay.

MIRAGE — Visitation for Ruth Dorothy Mirage, who died Saturday, March 8, 2025, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 251 S. Franklin St., Cochranton.

Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
