Parents of child who died in weekend fire released from hospital
The parents of a child who died in Clearfield Township mobile home fire that killed a child have been released from the hospital.
Mother Melina Bryner was sent to UPMC Mercy Hospital’s burn unit and father Alex Umbaugh to Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Hospital. Daniel Weidenhof of Fireproof — East Brady, who has been raising funds for the family in the aftermath of the fire, said Thursday they have since been released.
Jesse Umbaugh, 2, died after his family’s trailer caught fire just before 8 a.m. March 8 in the 2000 block of East Old Route 422. State police on Thursday said the fire marshal is still investigating to determine the cause.
Weidenhof started a GoFundMe page for the family that has since raised over $21,000.
The family’s home was a total loss. Donations to the family can be made at the GoFundMe or by dropping off money or supplies to The Coffee Shoppe or Fox’s Pizza, both in Chicora. Welcome supplies include women’s 2x pants, 3x shirts and size 9 shoes; and men’s 32-32 pants, large shirts, size 11 shoes and toiletries.
