Nobody was injured, but a family of three was left displaced on Friday, March 14, after a fire destroyed their home along Grubb Road in Cherry Township overnight.

According to Butler County Emergency Services, the fire started shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday night. Crews battled the flames until around 1 a.m. on Friday, but the home was considered a total loss.

“Unfortunately, upon first unit arrival it was already fully-involved, and we were unable to save it,” West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post Friday morning.

West Sunbury fire confirmed that the two homeowners, their child and the family dogs all safely escaped the structure.

Daniel Weidenhof, creator and CEO of Fireproof – East Brady, started a GoFundMe to raise funds for the family. Fireproof is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping fire victims.

According to the GoFundMe post, Dillan Surrena and Autumn Plunkard were at home at the time of the fire. Their son, Cooper Surrena, was staying at his grandmother’s house during the fire, giving the pair enough time to rescue their three dogs.

Monetary donations to the family can be made at “Help Dillan & Autumn start fresh after total loss house fire” GoFundMe page.

Alongside money, clothing donations can also be dropped off at the Coffee Shoppe or Fox’s Pizza Den in Chicora. Details on the family’s sizes can be found on the Fireproof Facebook page.
